we lied and said we were going home, then snuck up to her room and stayed up, coloring talking watching fraggle rock.

and he sat on the bed with me, and she turned off the light. and we curled up and whispered about how scared we were, how nervous we made each other. drift in and out of sleep, awake at five a.m., trying to laugh quietly, trying not to wake her up.
